| Following successful headship experience in Combined and Infant schools, Ian joined the Buckinghamshire School improvement service as County Adviser for Assessment and Target Setting, across all phases of schools. During this time, Ian worked as a Link Adviser in the Wycombe area, supporting and challenging schools in their ongoing work.From 2005, he was appointed as the Primary Strategy Manager for the authority, ensuring that local and national priorities, including the “Improving Schools Programme”, were implemented effectively. As a qualified School Improvement Partner, Ian worked across a variety of schools in all phases.From 2009 onwards, Ian managed the Curriculum Development Team, providing support to schools through advisers and consultants. During this time, he worked closely with the Music Service, Education Business Partnership and Children’s Centres. This gave him invaluable experience of improving standards of achievement and effectiveness in a variety of establishments, as well as giving him a thorough knowledge and understanding of large scale service change.
From 2011, Ian was appointed as the School Improvement Manager for the Wycombe area of schools. This role involved leading and managing strategic initiatives across Buckinghamshire, and in partnership with other local authorities, including one-to-one tuition, Reading Recovery and the Advanced Skills Teachers programme. Ian has also worked as an OFSTED inspector and school improvement partner and has qualified as a tutor for the NCSL.
Ian has had significant experience as a governor trainer, and has worked closely with schools, academies and other agencies, including the DfE, in order to foster partnerships and new ways of working. Since September 2013, Ian has been the headteacher of GloryFarm Primary School – a role which he is thoroughly enjoying.
